I live in the Highland village of Killin, Perthshire. It is a caring community, which is best exemplified by the fact that, when the local care home decided to close, the community rallied round, bought the home and now run it themselves.

Born in 1948, I am married with one son and two grandchildren. Outside the family and the community, I like fishing, walking, gardening, and our two Golden Retrievers. Although a general practioneer in financial advice I do see myself as a specialist in Advice for the Elderly including Inheritance Tax Planning, Wills, Estate Planning, Lump Sum Investments, Equity Release, and Care Fees Planning.

Before entering financial services, I served in the Royal Navy volunteering for service aboard submarines. Leaving the Navy in 1975, I trained as a teacher specialising in Teaching the Deaf. In 1996 I decided to leave teaching to pursue a fulltime career in financial services.

I am a member of The Retirement & Care Faculty .

I have been an IFA since 1984 and setting up my own business in 1996, going limited in 2004. My qualifications include the Financial Advisers Certificate, Advanced Financial Planning in Pensions, Pensions Simplification, Long Term Care Planning, Lifetime Mortgages, and the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice. I also hold the new Diploma in Financial Planning which replaces the old
Advanced Financial Planning Certificate.
