Having been in the profession for 8 years, I have offered Independent Financial Advice for the last 6 of these. Working as part of Bates, one of the largest providers of Independent Financial Advice in the UK, duties have also included working as Associate Manager for the region. Responsibilities include monitoring and signing off advice from fellow advisors within the regional office - ensuring that integrity, sound technical knowledge and effective client servicing remain at a high standard across all advisers.

Whilst studying towards the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning, in addition to specialising in Care Fees Planning, I have achieved advanced specialist qualifications in Equity Release and Pension Income Options. Although a general practitioner in financial advice I do see myself as a specialist in Advice for the Elderly including Inheritance Tax Planning, Wills, Estate Planning, Lump Sum Investments, Equity Release, and Care Fees Planning. My clients tell me they appreciate the way I explain the complex world of financial services in plain English.

I am proud to be a member of Symponia enabling me to offer advice and guidance to this often neglected, yet crucially important aspect of financial planning.

Prior to a career in financial service, I trained as a primary school teacher, and worked as a payroll manager.

I was born in South Wales where I continue to live with my wife Nicola, and daughters Bethan and Seren. In my spare time we engage in family activities such as cycling and swimming, and I have a keen interest in most sports, although often restricted to watching on TV!
